Now that your teenager has successfully passed their permit test, they have now reached the fun and exciting part! Our main goal is to make learning to drive fun and enjoyable. The State of California requires 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a certified instructor.
The curriculum is divided into three 2-hour lessons.
Upon completion of the third class, students will receive the certificate needed for the DMV.
Lesson 101
The first lesson is Introduction to Driving, otherwise known as Driving 101. In this first lesson we will cover all the basics of residential driving and on-the-road driving. We go at your child’s speed so that they don’t feel overwhelmed. We realize every student’s learning ability is different, so this lesson is usually modified to fit your child’s needs. Once this lesson is completed the instructor will sign their permit; they are now legal to drive in the State of California with anyone 25 years or older. They will need 50 hours of practice driving (40 day hours, 10 night hours.)
Lesson 102
The second lesson consists of reviewing Driving 101 basics, adding in heavier traffic, parking, and driving on the freeway. If your child is not comfortable to drive on the freeway yet, we will wait until the third lesson. Freeway driving is not part of the DMV driving test, but it is part of the curriculum.
Lesson 103
The third lesson is the driver’s test preparation lesson. We recommend it is taken about a week before your child’s test. We go over everything that will be on their test to make sure they are confident and ready. Once this lesson is completed, they will receive their Gold Certificate of Completion. We call this their “golden ticket.” They can now go to the DMV and take their driver’s test.
